Expanding Recovery Supports
OASAS is Now Certifying Recovery Residences

Recovery Residences are community-based shared living environments for individuals who have a common goal of maintaining and sustaining recovery from substance use disorder.

A Recovery Residence is not a clinical placement but is rather a voluntary choice that provides a physically and emotionally safe, secure, and supportive environment. It features a homelike environment with peer support, connecting individuals with resources and services in the community.

We are now accepting applications and expect to announce the first certified Recovery Residences available to the public in the next few months.

Substance-Free Living Environments
Key Features of Recovery Residences
Voluntary Participation

Participation is voluntary, not a clinical placement. Individuals may choose from a variety of recovery residence types or settings.

Welcoming

These settings offer a homelike environment for residents and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion for all applicants. No medical or clinical evaluation is required for admission.

Peer and Community Support

Peer to peer support is a key feature towards the common goal of recovery. Residents can be linked to community recovery supports, employment, education, and treatment.

Four Pillars of Life in Recovery
A Holistic Approach

These programs offer a home-like environment with peer support and help connect individuals to resources and services in the community.

The primary goal of these residences is to support four pillars for a life in recovery.

• Health: Making informed, healthy choices that support physical and emotional well-being, and address the symptoms of addiction.

• Home: A stable and safe place to live.

• Purpose: Taking part in meaningful daily activities and having the independence and resources to participate in society.

• Community: Relationships and social networks that provide support, fellowship and hope.
