Overview
You may be eligible to apply for a fellowship program at a medical school in New York State through this program.
The NYS OASAS Interdisciplinary Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Fellowship Program will provide funding to five (5) medical schools in New York State to host either an Addiction Medicine or an Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship or both.
This initiative is funded by the Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Supplemental Block Grant. The participating medical schools will host a multi-disciplinary group of fellows from various addictions services professions and credentials, including physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, mental health practitioners, social workers, Credentialed Alcoholism & Substance Abuse Counselors, occupational therapists, and peers who will be trained in conjunction with their current/existing Addiction Medicine or Addiction Psychiatry fellows.
Fellows will apply to the medical schools to receive full- or part-time stipends or salaries to complete didactic and clinical training/rotations and may have an opportunity to do research.
Each medical school will host two (2) cohorts – one (1) cohort for each year.
The goal of this funding is to help addictions services professionals learn from each other’s unique skills, talents and perspectives and to gain experience interacting with one another in multiple service delivery environments including prevention, treatment, recovery, and harm reduction settings.
Such training prepares fellows to work in multi-disciplinary teams – the same teams that work together to serve recipients in the OASAS delivery system.
