Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today signed legislation investing over $200 million to combat the heroin and opioid epidemic in New York State.

Independent pharmacies across the state will now be able to provide naloxone– the overdose reversal medication also known as Narcan® – without a prescription. 

Naloxone training events will be offered statewide at 12 OASAS Addiction Treatment Centers. Training will be free and open to the public. 

The state also is providing agencies that send their officers to the trainings with supplies of naloxone at no cost.
