OASAS hosts this recurring online learning series which tackles an array of topics that improve the delivery of addiction services

Learning Thursdays is a recurring free learning opportunity geared toward New York State's behavioral health workforce. Individuals working toward obtaining their initial professional credential, or renewing an existing credential, are encouraged to check back regularly for new and exciting courses that span a range of topics, including professional development, clinical guidance, and effective, culturally competent clinical strategies to engage specific populations. Course credits and sections vary by training. Check the course description for specific information regarding clock-hour credits awarded. Some courses are approved by NYSED to fulfill Social Work continuing education. For questions regarding Learning Thursdays courses or the test portal, please contact the Learning Thursdays unit at [email protected] 

 Courses may fulfill requirements for:

  • Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC)
    Renewal
  • Credentialed Prevention Professional (CPP)
    Initial or Renewal
  • Credentialed Prevention Specialist (CPS)
    Initial or Renewal
  • Credentialed professionals working toward a Gambling Specialty (G) designation (CASAC-G, CPP-G, CPS-G)

Online Test Portal
Once you are familiar with course materials, open the OASAS Test Portal and take the corresponding exam. If you don't have an OASAS Test Portal login, create an account. Registration is one-time only, takes just a few minutes, and gives you full access to all Learning Thursdays tests. Upon passing, you will receive a personalized E-Certificate of Completion for download/print. If you fail the exam, you will be given only one opportunity to retake the same exam after waiting a minimum of 24 hours.
