This presentation will focus on several topics unique to the veterans’ population that professionals who have even occasional contact with justice-invoked veterans should be aware of. Among these: military culture and values, readjustment difficulty; Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), suicidal ideations and social withdrawal and isolation. The VA will present information on how it shares such important knowledge with criminal justice entities, in an effort to, promote a better understanding of veteran needs.
