Overview
Through Opioid Settlement Funds, OASAS is seeking applications for the development of evidence-based prevention education programs. Providers will deliver primary prevention services in schools that are on the NYSED Receivership list and operate a OMH school-based mental health clinic but do not currently have primary prevention services. These targeted schools also have a higher than state average Opioid Burden as defined by DOH which includes opioid overdose deaths, non-fatal outpatient ED visits and hospital discharges involving opioid abuse, poisoning, dependence and unspecified use. $4 million is available for eight (8) applicants to be awarded up to $500,000 to cover a four-year funding period.
Eligible Applicants
Eligible applicants are providers that meet both of the following criteria:
- OASAS State Aid- funded providers of primary prevention services under program code 5520.
- Have a signed Letter of Future Support to work with one of the eight (8) schools listed here:
- Albany City School District- Sheridan Preparatory Academy
- New York City Geographic District #23- PS 327 Dr. Rose B English
- New York City Geographic District #10- PS 85 Great Expectations
- Syracuse City School District- Lincoln Middle School
- Troy City School District- PS 2 Troy
- Yonkers City School District-Cross Hill Academy
- Rochester City School District- Edison Career and Technology High School
- Syracuse School District- Clary Middle School
